This is the last full day of our expedition in the magical Galapagos archipelago. It’s been a fantastic week with so much variety and special sightings. Just a month ago these islands were dry with no rain at all. Right now everything is green and it seems that there is an explosion of life throughout the islands. Trees are green and finches are singing, looking for mates. The breeding season has officially started for these iconic birds.

Today we visited Punta Pitt on San Cristobal Island. With the morning sun over our heads we landed on a brown sand beach for a walk on the old volcanoes and through the forest in search of red footed boobies. As we walked we found blue footed boobies and eventually we reached the nesting colony of the red footed boobies! Some of us went for a Zodiac ride instead of the hike in order to explore this location. We also had the opportunity to see these all of these creatures on the cliffs of the offshore islets. At the end of the activities we had the chance to explore the marine realm with snorkeling gear. The water was refreshing and it was a fun excursion!

In the afternoon we anchored off Cerro Brujo for another visit. This place is fascinating at any time of day, but especially at sunset as sea lions rested and played in the shallow waters. There were also seabirds foraging close to the shore. This white sand beach and its surrounding landscape with turquoise water offers us the best opportunity for photography and exploration.

It was another amazing experience!
