We are having a great weather in the rainforest! A great weather in this region is having no rain. We’ve been able to explore the visitor sites from the early hours of the day, before breakfast and we’ve had marvelous sightings. The amount of bird life is overwhelming and everywhere you see there will be a different type of bird. The best moment for bird watching is the early morning at sunrise and the last hours at sunset. Today we enjoyed a sunrise and bird watching at the same time.

After the early outing he had breakfast and then we explored a small community called san Jorge at the bank of the Marañón River. Our visit is part of our development program in the field of education and leadership of the community. As we walked through the village we leant about the life of people along the major rivers. These people are mainly fishermen and farmers, the women are weavers and make beautiful handicrafts from palm fronds. They have lived in the area for many generations. We have to acknowledge that the ancestors of these folks have been n the Amazon basin for more than ten thousand years!

In the afternoon we explored Yarapa Creek. Right now we have left behind the Marañón River and we have navigated the very origin of the mighty Amazon River on our way to the Ucayali River. It is the meeting of the Marañón River and The Ucayali that form what we traditionally know as the Amazon River. Yarapa creek is one of the hundreds of tributaries of this great network of rivers. Life forms are abundant all around the trees and river banks. Today’s highlights were a troop of monk Saki monkeys, toucans, and yellow hooded blackbirds.
