We had a great sunny sunset on the northern coast of Santa Cruz Island. After breakfast, we got onto our Zodiacs and headed towards the dock. As we arrived, we got onto local buses that drove us across the island to the south. We arrived at the entrance of the Giant Tortoise Breeding Center where we learned all about the program to rescue giant tortoises from extinction.

As we finished our walk through the breeding center, our guests had the chance to explore the town of Puerto Ayora independently. Towards the end of the morning, we had lunch in a beautiful local restaurant, from there we went to the highlands to look for wild giant tortoises and to explore the pit craters. We like to call this the island of the giants, as prickly pear cacti, tortoises, and giant daisies are found here.
