Today we visited a small hill called Cerro Dragon located on the northwestern side of Santa Cruz Island. It’s famous for its large population of Galapagos yellow land iguanas, as this is where they nest. This location is also a popular visitor site for interesting wildlife, including different species of birds, including flamingos, finches, mockingbirds, and more. We did a hike in the area and a panga ride for those who wanted a more leisurely morning. We saw baby blacktip sharks, baby hammerhead sharks, rays, blue-footed boobies, and sea turtles.
In the afternoon, we went to Borrero Bay where we had an exploration in the Zodiacs along the coast and also, we used our kayaks and paddleboards to further enjoy the area in depth. After these excursions, we had a ship cruise around Daphne Major Islet to appreciate this amazing geological formation from the observation deck.
