National Geographic Sea Lion found itself anchored in Scenery Cove this morning. The rising sun lit the underside of the clouds, shifting their hues from light pink to salmon, an omen of a good day to come. Kayakers jostled for space among the spent salmon on the launch beach, while Zodiac tours headed into Thomas Bay in search of wildlife.

The afternoon found us at the Baird Glacier; the going was tough, but the tough got going and made it to an incredible, early succession landscape created by the retreating glacier. The area challenged one’s perspective from the small moss landscape to the grand glacial lake. Cocktails will be extra smooth tonight.
