Science at Sea Spotlight: Researching Microplastics in the Polar Regions With Rachael Zoe Miller
“Microplastics and microfibers are found all over the planet but we know there are solutions to this problem,” says National Geographic Explorer and Visiting Scientist Rachael Zoe Miller, founder of the Rozalia Project—a non-profit organization that protects and cleans the ocean using advanced marine science technologies. With support from the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic Fund, Miller travels aboard the polar fleet to study this “pollution of high urgency,”, examining its impacts on marine health and food webs. In this video, she shares her research process, findings and how educating guests on board inspires greater protection of vital polar wildernesses.
