Playa Zapotal and Tamarindo Estuary

What a great way to start the day: group snorkeling, a nature hike for others and beach times for the rest that just wanted to kick back and enjoy Playa Zapotal. As soon as we approached the beach, we were enchanted by a beautiful dry forest life: howler monkeys, crested caracara, tropical kingbird, great kiskadee, black vultures and many more. On the way back to the beach we were accompanied by big giant ceiba trees or kapok tree, name that resembled the kapok fiber used throughout history to fill mattresses, pillows, tapestries and dolls.

Corcovado National Park and Playa Caletas

Today we visited the outstanding Corcovado National Park – one of the true gems in the beautiful country of Costa Rica. We first dropped anchor in Caletas beach, and in no time after we landed guest ashore, we saw a troop of white-faced Capuchins monkeys graciously swinging between the trees in front of the property on which we walk.

Dallmann Bay & Melchior Islands

Guests enjoyed a lazy morning on board National Geographic Orion as the ship navigated through Dallman Bay amongst the towering tabulars. After a morning of sightseeing and eating, guests were keen to get off the ship with several guests opting to kayak – for the second time this trip – amongst the tranquil Melchior Islands. A calmer but equally as stunning day was the perfect preparation for a night of partying with the world-famous Orion Crew Show.
