Adrián Castellote Tena

Originally from northern Spain, Adrian's love for nature began in childhood while exploring the stunning Pyrenees mountains, practically in his backyard. After graduating as a medical doctor and specializing in Family and Emergency Medicine, he consistently sought ways to merge his profession with his passions: nature, culture, and adventures. This often led him to engage in health and development projects across Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

But fate took an unexpected turn during a three-year voyage around the world, where he learned to sail to avoid air travel and grasped the basics of celestial navigation. Eventually, he found himself in Antarctica, working as a doctor on a tall ship. Completely captivated by the polar regions, he has been returning year after year ever since, before ultimately making the high Arctic his new home.

In Svalbard, Adrian guides dog-sledding journeys and ski expeditions, always eager to demonstrate safe transit amidst glaciers, sea ice, avalanche terrain, and polar bear territory, fully embracing the thrill of traveling and camping in the Arctic's winter.
Through each expedition, he aims to share his passion for the polar regions, fostering a deep appreciation for their beauty and vulnerability, and hoping to inspire others to cherish and safeguard this unique environment for future generations.
