Adrian Cerda Ardura

Adrian is a field biologist whose interests span natural history, culture, world history and geology. Over the course of his career, he has explored many regions of the world, with a particular focus on Baja California. For about 40 years, he has conducted scientific research throughout the region while developing extensive knowledge of its landscapes, wildlife and human history. His work has also included studying the lives and traditions of local ranchers and Chinampo cattle, giving him insight into the connections between people, animals and the environment in this distinctive region of Mexico.

When traveling in the Mediterranean, Adrian turns his attention to art, history and geology. He is particularly interested in mountain building and the plate tectonic processes that have shaped the region’s landscapes over millions of years. These varied interests allow him to examine a destination through multiple perspectives, connecting its geological history with the cultures and communities that developed there.

Beyond his work in the field, Adrian enjoys writing and painting, pursuits that provide additional ways to observe and interpret the places he encounters. Based in Mexico City, he continues to explore the natural and cultural histories of the regions he visits, drawing on decades of field experience and scientific study.
