Christian Saa
Christian Saa was born on Isabela Island in the Galápagos archipelago and spent his early childhood immersed in a rural island environment shaped by farming, coastal life and daily encounters with wildlife. At age seven, he moved with his family to Santa Cruz Island, where his father began working in tourism and introduced him to the islands during school vacations. These experiences fostered a deep appreciation for the ecological and cultural significance of the Galápagos and set the course for a lifelong commitment to its stewardship.
Christian has worked as a naturalist in the Galápagos for more than 30 years. Over the course of his career, he has led expeditions throughout the region and beyond, building experience across a wide range of landscapes and cultural settings. Today, he serves as an expedition leader in the Galápagos, Peru, Egypt and Jordan, bringing deep regional knowledge to his role through thoughtful interpretation and visual storytelling.
Alongside his field career, Christian maintains a long-standing involvement in music and media. Based in Puerto Ayora, he works as a television producer and operates a recording studio, where he writes, composes and records original music. One of his compositions, inspired by the Galápagos, has been performed with the Guayaquil Symphony Orchestra. He has also been active in local civic life, including a candidacy for mayor of his community.
