Josh Newman
Video chronicler, Josh Newman is passionate about natural history. This passion has at times seen him researching Shearwaters in New Zealand's Sub Antarctic, snorkeling with Lion Fish in the Red Sea, climbing mountains in the Himalayas, and marveling at the universe in his own backyard. Trained in wildlife documentary filmmaking he studied both design and film before completing a post graduate degree in natural history film-making in New Zealand.
More recently Josh has run his own design firm, shot a music video for Canadian band Jets Overhead, worked as a News Editor for the NewVI — Canada's newest television station — and taught graphic design and digital video at the university level. His other passions include photography, sailing, mountain biking, surfing, sea kayaking and, it would seem, spending time huddled in small tents in bad weather (considering how much time he's spent doing just that). Having traveled extensively throughout Asia, Europe and the Middle East, he now resides on Canada's beautiful Vancouver Island — exploring its glacial mountain ranges and rugged west coast.
As a video chronicler, Josh has his cameras at-the-ready 24 hours a day and seven days a week, with just one goal: to capture the essence of each expedition. Voyage DVDs are available at the end of each expedition — they often prove to be remarkable ways of remembering and recapturing the magic of these remarkable journeys.
