Margrit Ulrich

Born in Costa Rica to Swiss, German and French parents, Margrit blends Swiss precision with a European perspective and the warm, relaxed rhythm of the tropics. This unique balance shapes both her leadership style and her approach to expedition travel. She joined National Geographic–Lindblad Expeditions inspired by the opportunity to explore remarkable places while fostering understanding, conservation and meaningful connections between people and the destinations they visit.

Margrit studied tropical sciences, though much of her knowledge comes from lived experience through daily walks in rainforests, countless hours in the ocean and a lifelong curiosity about nature. A natural storyteller, she enjoys connecting guests to landscapes, wildlife and culture while remaining highly attuned to individual needs and group dynamics. Earlier in her career, she worked in Germany supporting people with mental challenges, an experience that shaped her empathy, patience and inclusive leadership style. She later became a personal trainer, triathlete and CrossFit athlete, bringing energy, encouragement and a strong focus on safety and wellbeing to every expedition.

Guided by her personal philosophy, "People may forget what you said or did, but they will never forget how you made them feel," Margrit strives to create expeditions that are engaging, supportive and memorable. Whether introducing guests to a rainforest trail, sharing a wildlife encounter or simply helping everyone feel welcome on board, she believes the most meaningful journeys are built through genuine human connection.
