Rebeca Franco Valle
Rebeca is an archaeologist and art historian currently based in the Lofoten Islands, Norway. Her work blends academic research with hands-on approaches to archaeology, history, and cultural storytelling. Originally from the mountains of northwestern Spain, she pursued a degree in Art History before following her passion for Nordic culture to Iceland and Norway, where she completed a second Master's in Viking and Medieval Norse Studies. In 2016, she became a full-time guide and later earned a PhD in Viking Art and Archaeology at the University of Bergen.
Rebeca's career has taken her far academically, professionally, and geographically. She has worked in museums, on archaeological digs, and as a cultural specialist, publishing research and developing exhibitions that bring the past to life. Most recently, she brought her skills into the world of expedition travel, exploring the coasts of Iceland, Norway, Svalbard, Greenland, the Northwest Passage, and Alaska.
Sharing stories by using the potential of archaeology, art, nature, and photography is what Rebeca loves to do most. The past years of living over Northern Hemisphere have granted her much experience in these fields. She works purely intellectually, sharing her thoughts with other academics, in museums, tour buses, waterfalls, and glaciers, and hands-on, and her hands in the dirt. Ultimately all experiences, behind the desk or in front of a crowd, contribute to her goal to improve the lives of others and create a sustainable future through the storytelling power of culture and nature.
