Uiloq Semsen
My name is Uiloq Semsen (Simone) and I’m an adventure and Arctic guide from southern Greenland. I grew up in Qaqortoq and Nanortalik and have spent several years working in tourism across my home region. I’ve worked as an iceberg tour guide, city guide, boat crew (matros), and camp mini manager, and I’m currently part of the company Local Greenland (formerly Tasermiut Camp). I love showing people the beauty of our land and the strength of our traditions.
This summer, I’m proud to join Lindblad Expeditions as a cultural specialist. On board, I will give presentations about Greenlandic culture, lifestyle, and community sharing stories and knowledge that you cannot find on social media or in books. I’ll also guide guests on landings, hopefully also be a mate or learn captain on small boats, and help people connect more deeply with the places we visit.
I’m passionate about helping visitors understand how we live in Greenland, how we’ve survived and thrived through thousands of years, and how family, tradition, and nature shape our way of life. My goal is to give people a real, local perspective from someone who lives it every day.
