Victoria Showler

Victoria is a Belizean national who has spent many years teaching snorkelers and divers about marine life. She started off as a cook on a live aboard dive vessel but quickly traded in her pots and pans for a scuba tank and underwater camera.

In the small country of Belize, where she has lived all her life, she became the first woman to hold a PADI Divemaster and Open Water Scuba Instructor rating. She worked for all the live-aboard vessels operating there. Eventually she joined a local non-governmental organization called Programme For Belize and worked as their marine guide leading snorkeling expeditions to remote cayes to conduct reef workshops. She continued to work with various educational institutions such as the University of Belize and Texas A&M of Galveston, Texas, coordinating sea camps for local students and those from abroad. She now resides in the picturesque town of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, where she works part-time as a consultant for the Belize Tourism Board as a District Tourism Trainer. She moves around quite a bit in Belize acting as a naturalist guide for various organizations such as Oceanic Society Expeditions, and the Tropical Education Center of Belize. Never one to stay in one place for long, Victoria loves to travel. She also serves as Undersea Specialist for Lindblad Expeditions throughout Central America.
