Huahine

Jul 31, 2018 - National Geographic Orion

French Polynesia is such an exceptional place for all-natural history lovers. It doesn't matter if you're hoping to immerse in the culture of the region or see the various animals both above and below the water, one will find exactly what they're looking for in this tropical paradise. Huahine was certainly an island where we could all go in search for what we were looking for. As the expedition’s undersea specialist, my daily expedition report has an affinity toward the underwater treasures of the island, but other fond memories will come from the beautiful island itself.

About the Author

Chris Cook

Naturalist

A self confessed “animal nerd,” Chris falls under many titles: marine biologist, marine interpreter, dive master, science communicator, and naturalist. Chris was lucky enough to grow up on the East Coast of Australia, where there are no shortage of different coastal environments to explore. While growing up, his friends would be surfing while he would be under the waves, snorkel and mask on looking for fish and all the weird and wonderful creatures he couldn’t get enough of. This love of the ocean lead to him completing a Bachelor of Science in 2005.
