We navigated west during the night to anchor off Floreana Island at dawn. This is our last day to explore this magical archipelago, so we began early with a pre-breakfast walk. Our visit to Punta Cormorant was fantastic; dancing blue-footed boobies, brilliant pink flamingos and sea turtles in the shallows offshore were some of our highlights. After a well-deserved breakfast we took Zodiac rides and then snorkeled off Champion Islet. Despite cold water, we greatly enjoyed the number of colorful fish and invertebrates. Several sea lions played “chicken” with us!
We visited the Post Office barrel in the afternoon and several of us found cards to be hand delivered back home! From the beach we divided into groups going kayaking or paddleboarding and on Zodiac cruises around a series of islets and bays just offshore. This was a delightful excursion for everyone and we found a lot of wildlife!
