The Upper Amazon is known for its pristine forest and the great biodiversity that is found in it. The area also has a big number of settlements. This people that live along the river are known as the “Ribereños”. On this day we had the opportunity to visit a small community called Amazona.
In this community, the Non-Profit Organization Minga Peru has the mission to promote social justice and human dignity, primarily for women and families. We spent the morning learning a lot more from the mouth of the village people how their life has changed thanks to this program.
Our afternoon activities in the Upper Amazon was exploring the Yarapa River, a tributary of the Ucayali River. Some of our guest explored via kayak while others went on the skiffs. The diversity of plants and animals amazed each of the explorers.
