We may write a program and have intentions, but nothing happens without the approval of the Anemoi, or the wind gods of Greek mythology. Everything ends up wonderful in the end. We embraced the opportunity for our signature “photo safari,” a circumnavigation of the Sea Cloud via Zodiac. The crew had braced yards and then taken to the rat lines to unfurl sails, which made a stunning subject for our Zodiac-level photography.
Off ship for the late afternoon, we visited the island of Delos, considered the center of the world by the ancient Greeks. The timing was perfect with the absence of the morning crowds. It seemed to be just us, the waning wildflowers, and the unofficial sentinels of Delos: the ubiquitous cats. The life and former grandeur of Delos came to life as our Greek experts, Elenie and Laura, each took us back, way back in time.
