Our first morning found us at the base of Dynjandi, one of Iceland’s iconic waterfalls. A trail runs right alongside the river up to the spectacular falls. Our expedition began with a wild, wonderful taste of what we have in store the rest of the week.

After sailing all afternoon, we disembarked for an after-dinner excursion on the Island of Vigur. Vigur is a small island with a population of three humans, but it is home to tens of thousands of seabirds. The family living on the island farms eider down. We learned about the sustainable harvesting of the down and how it has created a sanctuary and haven for many other seabirds, including puffins, guillemots, arctic terns, and more.
