At sea, along the Costa del Sol, Spain
Weather couldn't have been better for our day at sea. Calm waters, and lovely skies. As the day evolved, temperatures rose, and some of us even tried the pool. We also started our first series of lectures during the voyage, with David Barnes' interesting talk on "The Personality of Spain". Lunch followed, with leisure time later, during which some of us enjoyed the time reading our favorite book in the library or on the sun deck. A while later Robyn Woodward gave us her talk on "The Barbary Pirates", where we learned that these waters we are cruising now were very dangerous centuries back because of the number of pirates, as well as to the fact that Muslims would attack any Christian ship, and vice versa.
Afternoon tea was served, and we continued the series of lectures with that of Hector Williams with the title of "Greeks and Romans at Sea".
Cocktail hour was begun and shortly before dinner, we had our first "Recap", where the naturalists expand on some interesting point of the day.
