Santiago Island

Peaceful and very inviting were the shore line at Puerto Egas, Santiago Island. We had a wet landing on its black sandy beach and decided to stay on its shore for some snorkeling and swimming. Despite the sunshine, it was a little chilly, but it totally paid off when at the sights of turtles and sharks we all went crazy. After the amazing snorkeling, we took off for a walk along the coastline. The sunshine on the lava flows created the perfect backlight for pictures. The horizon revealed the eastern side of Isabela Island, tomorrow’s destination. It was also the place were the sun was heading - west, and together with the sun, there were a lot of birds that were heading to their home grounds. It was then that the perfect silhouette of a pelican in the horizon appeared in front of my camera. I never asked for a nice picture. It was there, and I took it. I never asked for a perfect day, it was here all along, and I took it…
