Paradise Bay & Cuverville Island

Through blowing snow and high winds we conquered the Antarctic continent today. Our expedition team led us to the top of "Endeavour Hill." At the peak, you could see down into the nearby glaciers and out over Paradise Bay. Those of us who didn't want to hike down opted for the human toboggan method. We also dropped in on the nesting gentoos at the abandoned Argentine Research Station Almirante Brown.

In the afternoon, we sailed through the scenic Errera Channel. Surrounded by the ragged peaks of the Danco Coast and Rongé Island, we made our way to the afternoon outing at Cuverville Island.

Like penguins following in single file, we strolled from gentoo colony to gentoo colony inspecting the state of nesting, comparing those on high with those below. The penthouse view was definitely the preferred as we stared at glaciers cascading down the flanks of Rongé. Icebergs the size of city blocks filled the bay and en route back to the ship we stopped at a floating cocoa café.
