Bartolome & James Island
My dear reader, today we are all writing a very special expedition report, in a unique place, on a special day. This is a day that we will all remember because of the great moments we have spent together as a team and with wonderful guests. And guess what? Guests were fascinated to be on the moonscape of Bartolome, impressed by the many islands around, and also by the people from the Galápagos National Park working to improve the trail for our visitors.
Visitors from all around the world spent a nice time on the golden beach of Bartolome, snorkeling, glass bottom boating, and beaching… and watching us make a human pyramid! Visitors spent some extra time sharing the wonders of nature once more, either by enjoying one last sighting of a white-tipped reef shark, or even by being nipped by a Galápagos penguin… there was still so much to see!
The innocence of the Galápagos wildlife has made an everlasting impression on all of us…
So we decided, each of us naturalists of the National Geographic Endeavour, to write down a line for this report. I should add that your words during farewell cocktail, dear guests, were very touching. A 90 year-old woman snorkeling on every outing, walking up 372 steps; a gentleman who has wanted to come here since 1955; and a guest who did come 38 years ago and has found the islands in better shape than ever, very well-managed by the Galápagos National Park.
