Cerro Dragon & Sombrero Chino
Cerro Dragon, located in the northwest coast of Santa Cruz, surprised us today. For the very first time in many years, I saw this place very green, with lots of fresh grass and lots of mud!
It was an adventure and everybody was willing to go through the muddy terrain in search of dragons, the land iguanas! We saw many of them in action, some feeding, some fighting and some other enjoying the green lush vegetation.
The landscape was beautiful with the cactus forest surrounded by sandal wood trees, castelas, Galápagos cotton and many other plants. We even had a curious mockingbird landing in one of our guest’s head, perhaps looking for nesting material…
Despite the mud and some rain, we had a wonderful hike!
Then we headed for our deep water experience at Guy Fawkes. The snorkeling while drifting along the wall of Guy Fawkes is always spectacular, with hundreds of different species of fish, sea lions and a great variety of marine organisms.
In the afternoon, again a surprise! The weather was playing with us, but, where else in the world, can you be kayaking under a heavy tropical rain, surrounded by sea lions and penguins and with a volcanic background??
This is Galápagos, unpredictable and magical!
