Española Island
Our morning in the Galápagos starts with Punta Suarez, the most western peninsula of the island. Our hike takes place on a cool morning, and we are eager to find sea birds and iguanas. During the first part of the walk we meet blue footed boobies, Nazca boobies, and tropic birds as it is their nesting time. We get the opportunity to meet baby boobies in all stages of life, from an egg, along to a naked chick, to the fully fledged juvenile… It is a really amazing stop as the beginning of our trip. We also walk along colony after colony of sea lions and we have the opportunity to see the Galápagos hawk, the top of the island’s food chain.
Then we enjoy lunch and soon take sail towards Gardner Bay, where we have a very interesting snorkeling. Some of us prefer the “dry” way, from the glass bottom boat, while others swim into deep water. Most of our guests end up strolling along the most beautiful beach of the Galápagos, together with hundreds of resting sea lions. Still, kayaks are available to explore the shores of near-by Gardner Island…It was such a wonderful day.
