Española Island

Today we visited the southeastern part of the archipelago, Española Island. This is the oldest island, and the best way to end our week in paradise. The morning started early for our kayakers who left for Gardner Islet at 7 o’clock. The rest of us woke up at 8 for another delicious breakfast, at 9:30 we started our activities. The rainy season has started, and the warmer waters have arrived, our snorkeling was a little bit overcast but we enjoyed the warm waters with many fish, rays, sharks and sea lions.

After snorkeling, we disembarked on Gardner Bay. This is a beautiful white coralline beach where you share your space with hundreds of sea lions. Our guests enjoyed walking along the shore, swimming and taking more pictures of sea lions. You never have enough pictures of them!

In the afternoon, we enjoyed seeing new species. We were lucky to find some waved albatrosses getting ready to fly south. We enjoyed the display of the largest lava lizards in Galápagos, the most colorful marine iguanas, and got close to the curious Española mocking bird. Walking on boulders we went through a Nazca Bobby nesting site. Halfway we found a nice place to stop and rest as we observed the activity of the Blow hole. A full day with new adventures and emotions, that is how the islands tell you: Hasta pronto! We hope to see you soon one day!
