Española Island

I have been coming to Gardner Bay for the last 18 years, and I don’t get tired of the pastel colors, or the pure beauty of this beach that looks completely unreal, not only because of the hues of sand, sky and sea, but because of the dozens of sea lions that, with complete unawareness, rest next to visitors who can never believe their eyes.

Our guests have been a week in the Galápagos, and yet they get impressed by the innocence of its animals. Not only on land, but underwater as well. We have swum with sea turtles, king angel fish, rays, cormorants, penguins and iguanas. I can’t imagine another place on earth where you can find this myriad of creatures, both unique and fearless, sharing a plunge with a human being.

The afternoon found us at one of the jewels in the crown of this archipelago, Punta Suarez, at the northwestern side of Española. Here we had the company of mockingbirds, blue-footed boobies, swallow tailed gulls, Nazca boobies, lizards, iguanas and hawks.

We will keep Galápagos in our hearts forever!
