Delos & Kithnos

It looks as though the ouzo libation we offered to Poseidon last night helped. He kept the big waves down and we made our trip to Delos early in the morning before the arrival of the other groups. There, Apollo welcomed us to his sacred birthplace and showed us his temples, his marble lions guarding the palace, and the sacred lake with the palm tree where his mother Leto gave birth. He must have asked Aeolos for nice wind, which made our visit more comfortable.

Apollo stayed in his sanctuary and a serf came to show us the residential area - wow! We saw villas with floors decorated with fantastic mosaics, depicting Dionysos on a panther. We also saw tridents and theatrical masks, with atriums and big underground cisterns nowadays habitat to frogs singing to us.

We moved on to the theater. On top of the hill, we enjoyed the splendid view of the deserted Delos bathed in the blue waters of the Aegean Sea.

Back to reality onboard Panorama, Aeolos gave us wind strong enough to hoist the sails on our way to Kithnos Island for our afternoon swim on a beautiful small sandy beach. I think I will offer another wine (this time) libation to Poseidon for tomorrow’s trip.
