Santa Cruz Island
People often ask me what distinguishes Lindblad Expeditions from other tourism organizations, and I believe the main reason is the policy to help to preserve the destinations where we are working.
Tourism can be a boon to an economy, but it can be a bust if it destroys the environment. That’s why Lindblad supports various conservation projects of the Galapagos National Park and Charles Darwin Institute that help preserve part of the rich ecosystems of the Galapagos. It is nice to see people in the Galapagos Islands, but more than that it is incredible to have the Galapagos left for other people to see. As a native of the islands, I feel very proud to work for this company that has allowed me the honor to be their representative in some of the conservation programs for the islands. Whenever we have the opportunity to invite local people to have dinner with us on board, I try to invite students from different high schools in town, and I let them know what we do as a company. This Wednesday was not an exception, as the turn came for some students from the “Miguel Angel Cazares” high school who are part of a soccer team that participates in a local league.
The Polaris has supported this soccer team, because we believe sport is one of the best ways to help teenagers and people in general to use their energy in a positive way. The best feedback is to see their proud smiles every time they wear that uniform!
