Floreana Island
A great day! Walking, swimming and snorkeling activities kept us busy during the whole day. Snorkeling around Champion islet was fantastic. Beautiful calm and crystal clear waters were the stage where colorful fish and sea lions performed at their best. At one point we were completely surrounded by fish. It was like swimming inside the most beautiful fish tank you can imagine. Several white tipped reef sharks added some excitement to the underwater adventure. Juvenile sea lions were very playful and delighted our guests with their incredible movements underwater.
To top the day, just when we were coming back on board from the afternoon visit, I had one of the best bottlenose dolphins’ sightings I have ever had. We all went by Zodiac to see these magnificent creatures. The dolphins were jumping cheerfully around us and some of them were bow riding. Wonderful fiery colors in the sky increased the beauty of the event. We had an incredible horizon, at one side the sun was setting down, while on the other side the moon was rising up. Beautiful volcanic formations added magic to the sighting. With the very last sunrays and with the soft light of a full moon we finally came back on board.
