Bona Island, Panama

We were amazed at the beautiful environment around the Sea Voyager. Hundreds of birds gathered all over the three islands that we could see, Bona, Otoque and Estiva. After another delightful breakfast by our chef we got on the Zodiacs to try to identify all the bird species around us.

These islands have really large colonies of frigate birds, brown pelicans and brown boobies, but we could also appreciate the blue-footed boobies, night herons (black and yellow crowned) , black and turkey vultures and several other bird species.

Meanwhile the rest of the people enjoyed a day of kayaking and swimming in the beautiful waters of these islands located in the Gulf of Panama until we departed after lunch towards Coiba Marine National Park. In the afternoon, while cruising the Panamanian Naturalist on board gave a lecture on the history of Panama with special interest on pirates and adventuress that cross the Isthmus of Panama.
