Bartolome Island

One open book of geology appears in front of us. One island where the many examples of volcanic cones are arranged as in a classroom, for us to understand every detail about the formation of this archipelago. This is Bartolome, not the largest, not the richest in wildlife, but one island where our minds are transported to the very beginning of Galapagos. There aren’t many plants, just a few pioneers; therefore the rocks are all exposed, so their pure colors and shapes decorate the unique and outstanding landscape.

Our early birds enjoyed a walk to crown the top of Bartolome volcano. After breakfast we had different water activities, from scuba diving to glass bottom boating and snorkeling. Most of our guests saw several white-tipped reef sharks swimming along the beach. So even though geology was the main subject of the morning, we had the chance to enjoy the island from many different perspectives. The plant life, fish life and bird life were also part of our fulfilling morning in Bartolome.
