Bartholomew and Santiago Islands

Today we arrived in the early hours of the day to the central realm of the Galápagos archipelago. We started with a wonderful scenic walk to the top of Bartholomew Island as a light rain accompanied us. This island is very well known for the view of a very tall pinnacle rock and a golden colored dune where Pacific green sea turtles lay their eggs.

After this hike, we went back on board for a well deserved breakfast and got ready to go ashore for various water activities. Some went on a nice walk through the dune, while others went out on the glass bottom boat. This morning was very successful as some snorkelers found sharks, rays, and lots of fish.

For the afternoon, we visited the western coast of Santiago Island. We disembarked in Puerto Egas on its black beach for swimming and snorkeling. Later on, we walked along the coast to look for Galápagos fur seals, marine iguanas and lots of migratory shore birds. We did have a very enjoyable walk with lovely weather all afternoon.

As we returned on board, we enjoyed our farewell cocktail and shared our highlights and most beloved memories of the trip.
