Bartolome and Santiago Islands
Today was a great day, packed full of activities that we all got up early in the morning for, starting with a hike to the top of Bartolome Islet. We hiked up the picturesque volcanic at sunrise, enjoying this way the cooler conditions as well as the very best light in which to capture the nuances of color.
At this time of the year when the rainy season is almost at an end and the change in the predominant marine currents is very perceptible, one can come across often surprisingly different temperatures in the water, thermoclines. Practically instantaneously we can come across warm patches where the waters are nice and other patches that are slightly murky and cold.
All of us enjoyed water activities tremendously this week, and this was brought to a spectacular close our last day with two separate outings! Both today’s sites were wonderful. As we swam with penguins in the morning and during the afternoon in Puerto Egas, many of us enjoyed the company of a group of black tip sharks, swimming among reef fish and playful sea lions.
It’s been a very successful week with a variety of exciting sightings that have included a lot of whales, sun fish, manta rays and more. One thing for sure is that time flew past and our adventure has come to an end, which plunges us in nostalgia, because after a day like today we don’t want to end our trip…
