Floreana Island

What a day! We began our visit on a beautiful calm and quite area, and we ended the day with the most incredible light for pictures. The human history of this island is full of intriguing behavior and mystery.

This place looks so isolated but is especially interesting to the visitors because of its natural laboratory that allows seeing the results of ecological processes with greater clarity.

The flamingoes in the lagoon were in vivid colors. Water activities were rewarded with the presence of young playful sea lions, and the walk was remarkable in its botanical aspect.

In sharp contrast with the vegetation of the arid zone, the coastal area of Punta cormorant is mainly green due to the salt tolerance of certain types of plants in this area. The vegetation that was found along the trail was very diverse. It varied from mangroves to creeping vines, from grasses to succulent shrubs on the dune beach. By seeing these organisms in their environment, we have been gaining an understanding of the ecological relationship that exists on the islands.
