Española Island
Today was our first full day in this recondite group of islands that appeared from the sea floor, millions of years ago. Our first outing took place in one of the most striking places in the entire archipelago: Punta Suarez. Since we set foot on the island, we were fascinated by the amount of wildlife that welcomed us: sea lions, marine iguanas, hood lava lizards, hood mocking bird, Galapagos dove, etc.
A group of our photographers landed earlier, to capture the Galapagos fauna while they were waking up. Along the way we had the opportunity to watch Nazca boobies, blue-footed boobies, swallow-tailed gulls, and the majestic Galapagos waved albatross. Along the cliff, we stopped close to the Blow Hole, which is a natural formation with a fissure in the rock where the surf hits with pressure and blows the water forty feet high into the air.
Today our entire guests were surprised with a great buffet, with all kinds of dishes from the three regions of our wonderful country, Ecuador.
Later in the afternoon we had lots of options: a beautiful beach, the glass bottom boat, kayaks, deep water snorkeling activities, and more. Our guests at the beach shared the place with lots of sea lions that were sleeping, barking, or just playing. What a great day!
