Puerto Egas, Santiago Island
What a wonderful day we all had today.
Early in the morning, we started off the day for a walk to the highest point on a small center Island call Bartolome, The view is impressive here; volcanoes and craters of different colors and kinds, surrounded by blue ocean. The morning sun rises behind our backs to light up this amazing landscape. What a reward to be here! We all feel fortune for this wonderfully breathtaking experience.
After breakfast, some of us had a short walk over sand dunes as others got into the ocean from the beach for a snorkel activity among the tropical and subtropical fish. Some of us were rewarded by swimming with penguins and sea lions just to mention a few.
Back on board, our captain repositioned the Polaris to our next visitor site, Puerto Egas in James or Santiago Island as you might know it. We took part in water activities and then walked to our grottos where we were greeted by sally light foot crabs and fur-seal. Waders like this whimbrel were on our path acting as our migratory companions from the north just to remind us that today is our last day here in the Enchanted Islands and we must go on, others too will come.
As the sun set, our day comes to an end and we all share our experiences with new friends who will not be forgotten because we share such a wonderful place, the Galápagos Islands.
