Isabela and Fernandina Islands
The sun shines very early in the morning this time of year. It seems as if fog and clouds have moved some place else, away from the Galápagos. There is beautiful visibility, and far in the horizon appears Roca Redonda, which is part of a huge under water volcano.
There are birds flying everywhere like welcoming the new day; swallow-tailed gulls are coming back to rest, after a long hunting night. Hundreds of Galápagos shear waters, noddy terns, Nazca boobies, tropic birds, red-footed boobies and petrels are observed.
Later in Punta Vicente Roca, the calm ocean allows us to have an easy and a beautiful dinghy ride, and a successful snorkel outing, where we can enjoy and swim with marine turtles, penguins and cormorants.
During our sail to Fernandina, a couple of times spouts of whales where seen. This group of guests has been very lucky however, watching several kinds of cetaceans.
For the walk in Fernandina, as always, there are no words to describe how amazing this place is, a kind of mystery involves this young black island. Every guest comes back with an incredible comment about this island, saying, there is no spot like that on planet earth.
In the picture we have, one of the enchanted creatures of this Island. A flightless cormorant; getting ready for the mating season.
