Los Islotes

Morning found us sailing towards a small island called “Los Islotes”, which means “Islet”. This unique place is located North of Isla Partida and Isla Espiritu Santo, and though it is not big, it is truly full of life. As we were getting closer, those of us who were on deck, could hear the very characteristic vocalizations of the California Sea Lions. The only species of the pinnipeds or “Finfooted” animals, that lives inside the Sea of Cortez.

As we made our way closer to the anchor spot, we were greeted by lots of different sea birds; brown bobbies, yellow-footed gulls, blue-footed boobies, frigate birds and brown pelicans, all souring above the water looking for breakfast.

Not many people in the world have the fortune to go snorkeling with friendly and playful sea lions, and this is the perfect place to do it. It is just so much fun to watch the pups swim right by you, so fast and so gracefully. Blowing bubbles, nibbling the fins, staring at us and just having as much fun as we are...for sure an experience to remember...
