Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico

Who would believe that the desert could show us so many lovely colors in flowers? Today we visited Cabo San Lucas for a while. Some of us snorkeled at an interesting beach and saw a great number of invertebrates and fishes. Others went on a hike across a lovely piece of desert that was rich in flowers and greenery. Vines were everywhere, and among them we found this lovely blue morning glory (Jacquemontia abutiloides). The flowers are quite small, but the color blue is not typical of the desert, so it attracts quite a bit of attention. There were other morning glories, for example the big yellow morning glory. Besides these lovely flowering plants, we saw many members of the daisy family, as well as wild cotton, Adam's Tree, and hummingbird flower in bloom. The storm Juliet that hit this area in September, not only caused quite a bit of damage here in Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo but also brought a large amount of rain to the area. Making everything come to life!
