Day at Sea

With memories of the beach at Blanquilla behind us we sailed closer to the Lesser Antilles today but still just off sight of the coast of Venezuela. The sails, the blue sky and the gentle surge of the ship upon a cobalt sea have become almost second nature to our existence now. Crew scurry around hauling lines, climbing rigging and keeping this beautiful ship in top nick throughout the day. Lennox Honychurch gives his illustrated talk about the first people to inhabit the islands, travelling in their canoes all the way from the mainland to as far as the Bahamas and Cuba on these very seas. To see how this ship works several of us went on the Engine Room Tours and Bridge Tours that were offered. Another sunset and the quick nightfall came with the clink of drinks and music on the Lido Deck and the white bow of Sea Cloud II cut onwards through the wine dark sea.
