Bahia San Francisquito, Baja California, Mexico
Would you like to travel to heaven, and be alone there for all the time you want? Come to Baja California, Mexico. Today we slowly traveled to Bahia San Francisquito, on the mainland of the Peninsula, and all the time met no one. No other ships in sight. Nobody. Ours are the waters here!
We anchored and landed in the white sandy beach, where we divided into hiking groups and kayaking groups. Inland we went, enjoying the desert vegetation of this so dry part of the peninsula. Ghost crabs on the beach, a running jackrabbit, and in the sky a red-tailed hawk being harassed by a peregrine falcon. In their flight they soon disappeared, to be replaced by an osprey looking for lunch. It too, soon was flying off with a fish in its talons. Some of us snorkeled in the cool waters, and marveled at the great variety of fish, urchins, sea stars and other invertebrates,
By midday we were hungry, and returned to the ship, where we enjoyed a deck lunch with hamburgers and hot-dogs! And then started our trip down south. En route we again met two fin whales, which we followed for a while, enjoying the marvelous behemoths.
The day started without clouds, and ended in the same way, incredible!
