Columbia Gorge

Today as we made our way along the Columbia River we were followed by Roy. Roy G. Biv is his full name. Roy's mother is the rain and father is the sun. Roy comes to be when the light from the sun enters the raindrops from storm clouds. When these two meet the interaction gives rise to Roy who arcs across the sky, even if only for a few moments. Roy followed us as we entered into Bonneville Lock. There was a light rain over us and the sun directly in front of us. Roy G. Biv is of course short for Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet. These are the colors created by the splitting of pure white light by the prism of water droplets. Roy is more commonly known as a rainbow. This rainbow lasted for a good fifteen minutes as we descended in a lock for the last time on this voyage.
