Golfo Dulce, Rio Rincon & Casa Orquideas Costa Rica
Our day started with a beautiful sunrise, the cloudy sky telling us that this is truly the rainforest. Nature is waiting for us, willing to share its extraordinary beauty. Some of the ways to discover the extraordinary biodiversity that Golfo Dulce possesses include kayaking, Zodiac rides and nature walks.
Golfo Dulce holds amazing ecosystems such as mangrove and rainforest which support a great amount of mammals and birds that were easily seen by our guests. Soon after we started, we were all involved and enchanted by the great biodiversity of the place. Black throated trogons and chestnut backed antwrens were part of the morning chorus, as well as snowy egrets and white ibis. To finish with the morning outing, we were given the opportunity of swimming from the stern of the Sea Voyager.
It was about noon when we received the announcement from the hotel manager; the delicious lunch was ready and suddenly while we were eating, a big group of Pantropical Spotted Dolphins emerged. Wow! they were having lots of fun breaching, besides doing the traditional wake and bow-riding for a long time.
The afternoon activity included a nature walk in the Casa Orquideas botanical gardens, which is one of the most interesting places to visit for those that love tropical flora. Many bromeliads, heliconias and palms colored the paths as well as birds and bats.
The day passed faster than we expected, nevertheless all the memories of the wonders of Costa Rica are still very fresh in our minds as we depart into Panamanian waters, nature waits for us and we are ready to go for it!
