Manuel Antonio National Park

It’s been almost a week since we first met. Everybody came on board with different expectations, and as one of our guests said this evening, that’s one of the things that makes this a unique kind of trip. We focused on different aspects of the areas we visited; it is not only the birds, but the plants, the human history, the food. We welcomed guests with different interests, and there are activities for every taste.

That’s what we have had this week on board Sea Voyager, from Colon, Panama to Herradura, Costa Rica. The Panama Canal, at the beginning of the trip was, of course, a unique highlight. People loved the bonfire beneath the stars, the lovely evening at Orquideas.

Today, our last day of the week, at Manuel Antonio National Park we had everything together at the same spot, like a summary of the entire expedition. We found many species of birds, but specially mammals. Naturalist Isa Salas spotted a Mexican anteater, hanging from a tall, seemingly endless tree. There were several sloths, both kinds, three-toed and two-toed. Monkeys as well, from white-faced capuccins to Howler monkeys. And bats and spiny iguanas, apart from the many species of plants and the amazing beauty of the scenery. People could swim, and also visit the local beach for handicrafts.

After a sunset with green flash included we celebrated, with a toast from our captain, the privilege of sharing one of the most beautiful places on Earth and on board a good ship, with lovely crew, officers, and guests!
