Isla Tortuga, Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica

Today we christened the newest addition to the Lindblad fleet, the MV Sea Voyager. Performing the ceremony were Tamara Budowsky, owner of Horizontes Nature Tours and Sven-Olof Lindblad, President of Lindblad Expeditions. Many invited guests and dignitaries were aboard for the special christening cruise, which took place at sunset.

The MV Sea Voyager was originally built in 1982 at the Chesapeake shipbuilding in Maryland and has been working in Costa Rican waters for the past five years. Lindblad Expeditions acquired the vessel in late 2001 and she was completely refitted during November and December of 2001.

With a cruising speed of 10 knots and a maximum passenger capacity of 64 guests, this 175 foot vessel is an ideal base for exploring the Central American region. The MV Sea Voyager carries four Zodiac landing craft, a small flotilla of sea kayaks, she is a certified scuba-diving vessel and of course, as a Lindblad vessel, she is equipped with a “splash cam”, Video microscope, digital video cameras, spotting scopes and binoculars. Hence no element of the Natural world goes un-explored – we can view plankton, undersea creatures, sleeping sloths, capture monkey behavior on tape and play it back at night in our air-conditioned lounge, over cocktails! Expedition travel the luxury way!!!
