We started an amazing day with hiking options to discover the rainforest. Some guests enjoyed a hike to see wildlife, trees, and plants in the garden. Other guests ventured into the rainforest. We found beautiful macaws, black hawk-eagles, yellow-throated toucans, and a trogon building its nest. We spotted a spectacled caiman hidden in the middle of the vegetation in a little pond under a big tree where a great curassow was nesting. After this amazing hike, we walked a short trail to learn about some important basic cycles of tropical jungle life. Another hike covered about two miles, and guests were excited to see squirrel monkeys, white-collared peccaries, and much more.

Midafternoon, we began exploring Golfito with two activities: Zodiac cruises and kayaking. We learned about the natural history and economy of the area. We also learned about the important functions of the mangrove and the gulf as a nursery.
