Just before breakfast, the National Geographic Sea Bird anchored near Los Islotes; rocky outcrops composed of weathered ash layers and covered in guano. These small islands are home to the southernmost breeding colony for California sea lions during the summer months. We had the unique opportunity to view these sea lions from the water, admiring their underwater acrobatics and dog-like curiosity. Afternoon activities on the island of San Francisco included intertidal explorations, hikes up the ridge for amazing views of Half Moon Bay, and a chill yoga class on the beach. With fresh margaritas and toes in the sand, we sat around a bonfire and watched the sun sink behind the Baja California peninsula.
