We spent the day exploring one of the most iconic places in Norway, the Lofoton Islands, and no place is more emblematic of the Lofoton Islands than the fishing town of Reine. While only about 400 people are year-round residents, Reine has become a well-known vacation destination for Norwegians and Europeans. The protected harbor is surrounded by tall cliffs and mountains, creating scenery that draws photographers from all over the world.

Tons of cod fish are harvested each spring and hung on wooden racks to dry for about 2 months. Most of the dried cod is exported to the Mediterranean to be used as a delicacy, and the cod heads are sent to Africa.

Fine warm weather was a welcome surprise for us, so we took the opportunity to spend the afternoon on the small Zodiac boats to explore some of the nearby fjords. Waterfalls, colorful summer homes, and jaw dropping scenery were on tap for all!

After dinner, we took a quick detour into a tiny fjord known as Trollfjord, where legend has it trolls were abundant. We did find a few!
